Continuing its popularity, the “World’s Greatest Drag Race” came back for a look at the top muscle car contenders for 2013.
Lining up in competition this time are 12 cars, the most so far in one drag race – these contenders are from Motor Trend’s 2013 Best Driver’s Car Powered by Mobil 1 list.
Making the line-up are the Nissan GT-R Track Edition, SRT Viper, Jaguar F-Type V-8 S, Aston Martin Vanquish, Mercedes-Benz E63 S AMG, Bentley Continental GT Speed, Porsche Cayman S, Audi R8 V-10 Plus, Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Black Series, BMW M6, Ford Focus ST and Porsche 911 Carrera 4S.
Once again, the abandoned airstrip at El Toro Marine Base serves as the drag strip. These twelve competitors display a wide range of power and performance, not to mention price tags; in fact, there’s over $1.9 million worth of machinery and 6100 horse power in contention.
There’s a mix of everything here: 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 cylinder drives; front, rear and 4-wheel drives. One car does the quarter mile stretch in 11 seconds…
